Amsterdam Feasts
Amsterdam has some of the best beer you can find. I took a tour of the Heineken museum because it was part of a package with the country side tour and boat ride. It was a fun experience but I enjoyed other locally brewed beers than the Heineken brew. Still, the museum is fun to visit and they breed horses there. Random, huh?
Of course, Amsterdam is synonymous with pancakes. The best place for pancakes has got to be the Pancake Bakery that serves traditional dutch pancakes and wafers.
What's better than a pancake that comes with caramel wafers, whipped cream, cinnamon ice cream, butter and syrup? Oh and a side of little dutch pancakes (poffertjes) with powdered sugar. Yasss! For real, one bite and I wanted to do the run around Holy Ghost dance. God Bless whomever's Grandma came up with this recipe. My mouth was so happy. There was love baked into those pancakes. It was poetry on a plate!
Definitely experienced a sugar high. This place is a MUST visit.
This is shocker but had some of the best barbecue in Amsterdam. My fellow Nigerians, I never hexperredit! :)
Visit Cannibale Royale for the ribs alone but top off the treat with a couple of their Bitterballen (dough balls filled with gravy). Yum!
I'm not even a beer drinker but tried this on the recommendation of the waiter at Carnibale Royale and it was delicious. Light and not very hoppy with notes of citrus. LOL, maybe I am more of a beer pro than I let on, tee hee.
Every site I read in preparation for the trip told me to try these fries and the mayonnaise dip in Amsterdam. I was a bit apprehensive but always down to try something local so stood in this long a** line for some fries. The absurdity of the line almost deterred me but I'm glad I exercised patience because baeebaaay...those fries were so good!
Best snack ever! Mmhmm, them are some put your foot in it fries. I don't know if it's the potatoes or the lard they fry them in but it was delish. Yeah, it's probably the lard. Yup, can't eat these every day but what an experience this first time around.
You see how my love for food won't let me be great with the workouts? LOL. Shrugs, YOLO!
The line to this place snakes around the block but it's so worth it! Best Homemade fries in Amsterdam and a landmark.
