So...sadly, can't say I really had a real culinary experience while in Iceland. Food was SO expensive. Like, ridiculously expensive and that really limited the meal choices but I did get to try some seafood soups and dishes that were delicious. Seafood and lamb are ubiquitous with Iceland. I didn't try any lamb but the seafood was very good, albeit expensive.

Since it's Europe and seafood land, why not start with a plate of fish and chips. This battered cod was so delicious but ran about $25 with a bowl of soup and salad * deep sigh *

The chips are delicious too. MMmmmmmhmmm, carbs <3

Iceland has wonderful bread too and I had my fill of bread. For someone coming off a no carb diet three weeks prior, I was definitely binging, smh. So much for discipline, huh?

The caption above says it all. The raw redfish is actually super yummy. Very sweet and easy to chew as you would any other sushi type dish. Didn't need the brown mustard on the side but the sweet rye bread was definitely a winner. In Iceland, rye bread is made by baking it in the ground using hot springs to steam through. Yeah, pretty innovative and delicious!

The Bread company in Reykjavik had THE MOST amazing breads and pastries baked fresh every day. The baker was rolling pies and knotting croissants right in from to us. The smell, omg, the smell is heavenly. This is a must visit if you're in Reykjavik.
