Thai Tastes

Ehm, so about food in Thailand...IT'S AMAZING! Gosh, everything is so good in Thailand, cheap and fresh! I won't write much here. Just to say that Thai cuisine is known for a mix of sweet, salty, tart and spicy for a blend that sends your taste buds going wild and may leave you a bit sweaty but certainly satisfied.  The fruit is so fresh and I enjoyed many a mango drink, mango dessert, fresh mango and mango candy :). Here are pics of some meals I enjoyed and others I saw at the street night market but was not brave enough to try - like the large water bug!

This was my first meal in Bangkok. I think it was around 11 pm at night. I had just arrived and was starving. The hotel told me about a restaurant that stayed open late. I got the chicken basil on the right with a papaya salad and yes, fried rice noodles. Ehm, the chicken basil was 5 peppers hot. And you don't want to play with Thai chilis. There's a whole story about not having enough Thai baht to pay for the meal and they didn't accept credit cards but I ate it all and it was good :)

Dragon fruit. Mmhmm, can't say I loved it. Not as sweet as it looks.

Mango Smoothie. Baaaby, this mango drink and side mango garnish that I devoured was amazing!

Thai fried rice with salt egg. Salt egg is boiled and then a whole is drilled and the yolk is infused and it preserves for days. Yeah, it was scary to try but very delicious.

The Bangkok Night Market is this amazing culinary epicenter. Street meat, seafood, bugs, juices, teas, barbecue crab... everything! i wish I had more time and stomach space cause I wanted everything. This was very popular. It's a deep fried salt fish. Yes, that white crust is coarse sea salt. Thai folks pull away the skin and eat the flavored fish underneath. I loved it! Some kind folks next to me shared some of theirs with me.

This corn salad was bae! Yes, I ate this too. By myself. All this food happened on the same night, smh. I gained 5 pounds by the time I left Thailand. Oh, and that green sauce on the side is bloody amazing! It's like lime and chilis in syrup or something. Whatever it is, I wanted to bathe in it.

Grass Frog. I didn't try this because i was so full by the time I saw it but I've had frog before. It takes like fishy chicken.

Yeah, Issa no for me on the water bug. I was told it's delicious but I just couldn't. Something about the feet, wings and the name "water bug" just didn't sound good to me.

Thailand is ubiquitous with street meat. Next time I'm in Bangkok, I'm eating at the Night market every night I'm there. Unfortunately, I went to the Night market on my last night in Bangkok before I went to the airport. Next trip, I'm eating there and only there every night :)

You have not experienced heat till you visit southeast Asia. Thank God for fresh coconut water straight from the coconut's mouth.
